Kim is a creative and business development executive and producer with 25 years media experience. Kim specializes in and is responsible for creating, leading and producing content that become successful brands which create long-term equity. She has successfully managed new product launches, developed brand strategy, lead content creation, and go-to-market efforts across music, home entertainment, live entertainment, video game, mobile and digital platforms, publishing, retail and hospitality partners.
As Senior Vice President at NBC Universal Kim was responsible for all global licensing and merchandising of NBC Universal television properties, as well as the NBC Universal television catalog.
Since joining the company in 1999 she lead the group’s efforts to develop and implement product lines associated with NBC Universal’s TV brands, incl NBC, Universal Media & Cable Studios, USA Network, Syfy Channel, Bravo properties, CNBC, NBC News, NBC Olympics, Telemundo and consulting with Sprout and Carnival Films. In addition, Kim oversaw all new business development for music, eCommerce sales, the NBCU online store and third party home entertainment licensing. Garnering global success with properties including The Biggest Loser, Fashion Star, The Office, Heroes, Battlestar Gallactica, Downton Abbey and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Kim was responsible for numerous successful music releases including Grammy winning Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, NBC's The Sound of Music, Smash, The Office, Saturday Night Live, Friday Night Lights, American Dreams and numerous others. Kim was responsible for booking the nightly medal ceremony concerts for the 2002 & 2010 Winter Olympics and music licensing/releases in connection with the concerts.
As Vice President, Product Management for Capitol Records, Kim was responsible for all releases as well as Film & TV soundtrack and licensing. During her tenure Kim was directly involved in producing and marketing of award winning and platinum selling projects including Oscar Nominated for Best Song Goodwill Hunting, Multi platinum selling Hope Floats & Romeo & Juliet, Clueless, There's Something About Mary, Scream, Dead Presidents and many others. Kim was at the forefront of targeted film/tv placement for music artists, creating new inroads for theme song and commercial licensing and developing on screen appearance opportunities for artists.
In August of 2014, Kim formed three distinct yet, complimentary business platforms from which to contribute professionally under the Niemi Production banner. freshMINT is the consulting arm for brands seeking to grow and extend their ancillary business. Velvet Ash Productions is the producing arm for film and television, focused primarily on adapting literary titles appropriate for children, young adults and family. Chasing The Wind Music is the soundtrack and publishing arm of the business.
A Southern California native, Kim received her Bachelors Degree from California State University, Northridge in Radio-TV-Film. Kim and her husband Joe are proprietors of Shredded Tacos, which opened in late 2014. Kim serves alongside her husband and reside on the Board of Directors as a Youth Director with Campus After Dark, a non-profit youth outreach program in the Santa Clarita & San Fernando Valleys for over 30 years. The Niemi's have three adult children and reside in a suburb north of Los Angeles, CA
